Is it normal to use a pan again after it's been left full of mouldy food for a week?

I went on holiday for a week or so and when I got back this horrible stench hit me the moment I opened the door of my flat.

I had left rice, peas, stock and water in the pan in the sink in the kitchen, and there were spores all over it. I emptied it outside, left it outside for 2 days (in rain and sunshine), brought it in, rinsed it, filled it with diluted bleach and left it overnight, then rinsed and disinfected it twice with a non-bleach antibacterial disinfectant. Will that be enough? Can I use it again without getting sick now? I really liked that pan!!

You did all that? A normal wash would've been enough!

I guess when you see spores start to grow out of your arm pits you'll know that it wasn't such a good idea to use that pan again.

mold is not all bad in fact only about 200 are out of 3000. just a normal wash is fine . you can also heat the pan in the oven if you are worried 300 degrees for 5 minutes should kill it.

You're so weird! Why didn't you just get a new pan?

A new pan? Do you throw things away just because they need a wash? You are the reason the earth is dying of consumerism!

When I wash my socks they lose their softness so I just buy new socks every week

after emptying it wouldn't have hurt to clean and disinfect then leave in the sun. But should be fine.

You can use the pan again. Any kind of bacteria or stench should be long gone by now since you disinfected it multiple times.
