After a suggestion by dappled, numerous users agreed to switch their user color to purple on the 4th of July(and for that day only). is it normal to think such events, as long as they remain singular in nature, are a great way to have a communal event?

Just to be clear to people, you only have to be purple for a day. Then we all look at how weird we look purple (except for me and my fellow purples), have a bit of a laugh about it when one post has all purple answers, feel happy, and then go back to how we were for the other 364 days of the year. :D
I know it's just a bit of daft fun, but I love stuff like this.

You *should* be excited. This has never happened on IIN before. You could be part of a revolutionary movement. This could be our Woodstock. People still ask if you know where you were when Kennedy or Diana died. You should know where you were when everyone turned purple. You should be standing right beside me, and you should be purple. Don't listen to Nora. But, if you must be a diplomat, just do 12 hours of each colour. And note that this isn't an option you've been given by the opposing party.
