You're antifeminist
You're part of the problem
You're ruining your own career to further your husband's
You're setting a bad example for your daughters
You're wasting your life
Your husband will leave you because you're not the career woman he married and then you will have nothing because you threw it all away.
The funny thing is that I have the sort career where I will always be employable. I would probably need to do some sort of refresher because it's quite technical and changes with new advancements, but it's one of those jobs where you are always needed. I could go back to work tomorrow if I wanted to. But I don't want to. My husband earns enough for us to live comfortably and we have plenty of savings. Once my kids are all in school and I feel the time is right I will go back to work. It's really not a big deal to me. I think some people just totally misunderstand what being a stay at home mum means.
I would hate to miss out on my kids growing up. It goes so fucking fast. They are babies for a blink of an eye. I want to enjoy it all and make the most of this time.
Bloody hell, they really are going to town on you. Fuck em, I think you're probably a stellar woman, and you'll have those memories of your babies for the rest of your life. And when you're old and need someone to talk to, you'll have loving children there. Big respect to you. for going against the grain and doing what you love
I agree that the denigration of the role of the house wife has caused huge problems. I'm not saying that this should be forced upon anyone, and I don't that gender has to be relevant. I simply think that once children are involved it makes a lot of sense for one half of the couple to be at home/have their primary focus be home most of the time. There is a long list of things that have to be done in order to make a happy home for the family, and earning money is an important one, but it is only one of those things. If you can afford it then it makes perfect sense for one person to be at home. It makes life less stressful for everyone. Women are the ones with the boobs so assuming that they are breastfeeding it makes much more sense for them to be at home, although this will of course be different for every family depending on things like earning potential, how baby is fed, who can best handle the physical demands of being with the children all day, who has the organisational skills to run the household etc.
I'm sick to death of people acting like women should do everything. When you give birth all of these instincts kick in to protect that child at all costs. I'm not saying that you can't satisfy those instincts and continue working if that's what you want to do, but I think that the women who want to take a break from paid employment to stay by their baby's side until the time comes for them to be independent don't deserve to be looked down on. For me there was no choice in the matter. I wouldn't have even had any children if I thought I would have to hand them over to someone else every day to raise them while my husband and I overstretched ourselves by trying to work full-time, raise the kids, keep on top of house work. It seemed pointless. Why have children if you are barely going to see them when they are little? Not to mention the fact that it costs extortionate amounts of money for someone else to look after them for you whilst you are in work. I'm very lucky that I would still bring home a decent salary after paying nursery/nanny fees, but for an awful lot of people their entire salary is spent on this. Then factor in the reality that most of these places close down over school holidays so you have to take time off work for these or pay even higher holiday rates for someone to have your kids. It makes it financially pointless. You spend more than you earn and you never see your own children. How fucking depressing.
My feminism goal is for everybody to stop telling women what to do. It's so fucking annoying. Sadly feminists are the worst for this.
IIN to think that women's main function is caring?

Thanks, that's nice to hear.
