Is it normal to think that we should tax the poor more heavily?

When we subsidize the lifestyles of the poor with government assistance and we fail to adequately tax them, we give them further incentive to lie around like ass-nuggets, living off of others' work. In addition to this, by not taxing the poor, we entice others to slack off and adopt this lifestyle, as people who would otherwise be productive members of society will of course want to partake in the simple joys that the life of your ordinary parasite offers. They, of course, will also continue to stay poor, because if they are not being taxed, they will lack any incentive to fix their situation, and so long as they are addicted to public assistance, they will fail to be of any use to society, save for the fact that the 800 children they will undoubtedly birth (all from different fathers, obviously) might get some politician elected because he promised to give them more of other people's money, tax free.

    Lol I'm a college student employed 60 hours a week at two jobs not including Army Reserve service and have been for years, I don't have kids, don't get government assistance and I'm poor as hell. We all start somewhere and shit, I'm chomping at the bit to move up in the world.

        Most people never told non-white people that either. All of my students are minority and most are black. Black history month was a breath of fresh air for me. When I asked them if they could give examples of racism in their community, they couldn't answer. When I pressed them, most of them said "I can't remember when someone was seriously racist against me.". Most of these teens/adults are criminals, too. Criminals who have been arrested. By cops. And they're saying they didn't even think racism was still a thing.

        You need to get your head straight, brother. Most of my friends from my old hood and most people of color who I deal with regularly don't sit there thinking that the white man owes them anything. They're just pissed off like me that college is so damned expensive and that it's hard to find a decent paying job anymore.

        They aren't the ones who need to change their views on race. You are. There are plenty of people who think like you in higher positions in the world who explicitly or implicitly hold back minorities. I'm not saying this shit to be PC with you, I'm 100% all about the concept that your work ethic can and will get you as far as you need to go in life and anyone who pities themselves can fuck themselves but bro, you're just proving that there is still a fucking racism problem. Especially considering the fact that such a huge number of welfare recipients are, well, white folk.

          A much higher percentage of the black community though uses welfare than the white community. Whites are enticed by blacks and other races to squander their income on things they don't need.

      If anything, we should dock their payments, as that will be a better incentive to get themselves off their feet. By taxing em, you not only force them to go into debt from loaning out money, but you also make it a one way trip down the economy toilet for all of em.

    You are not suggesting ending such programs, or giving people less to begin with. You just think the government should give it to them, and then take some right back?

    Did you take basic math classes?

        My point is that it is completely illogical. There is no point in taxing welfare at all, because taxes are going to the government and welfare is coming from the government. So rather than for example give then $1000 and then tax them $500, leaving then with $500. Wouldn't it be easier to just give them $500 in the first place and tax them nothing.?

        But rather then just give them less in the first place, you would create taxes which would create additional steps, paperwork, bureaucracy that would end up costing tax payers more.

        I am not saying I advocate any of this personally. But I think your approach shows a real lack of understanding.

    No surprise, that sounds like something somebody of the upper-class would say. Go get a fucking clue! Some people living in poverty might be lazy, but there are many who work hard and struggle just to make it. You obviously wouldn't understand that because you've never been there.
