Is it normal to think that this is a 1990s style website?

Is it? I just love this 90s looking site in both theme and purpose, its minimalistic yet welcoming looks. I see it as very 90s in style both in its theme and purpose while making use of a few sound improvements that came since. Am I just nostalgically seeing unicorns of my childhood?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • This place is very simple and easy to use. It doesn't have a bunch of unnecessary features like other websites do which is one of the reasons I like it.

  • I dunno but it's the only place I ever went to that I felt I could be a part of, and still is my one and only interactive site.

    • This site is intelligent, intuitive, funny, and honestly helpful. Unlike Facebook type sites which are ego oriented, this one is community oriented and the help you find here is useful and sincere. And it's add free!!

Unlike places that boast about knowledge and free help, this one really is about that. Just like in the old days when people really opened up on the internet because picture sharing was not practical and there were no detailed profiles so it was all about the inner of people and thought sharing rather than today.

Today we see only the exterior of internet users, many pictures, many details on their profiles and because we think we know a lot about them just from that, we don't really share and have fun on the internet anymore. Didn't think places like this existed anymore. Cool site!

I will start my new job in a week and will donate at my first pay. I will monthly! The first ever site that I will support with money on a regular basis and only the second one to ever donate to.

  • I didn't use the internet much in the 90's, but it does remind me of the old (Yahoo?) message boards from early 2000's. I miss the old internet :(

    • Psssshhhh, fuck all that:

      http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4486952515

I remember (in the dialup days *shudder*) when it used to take me 10 minutes to load a picture...

By the time the boobies loaded in, I was already done.

  • It's the 90s again? Ok ill smoke weed listen to Nirvana, and contemplate suicide, then I'll smoke more weed, watch Seinfeld, X files and live another 24fo.

  • This is way better than Facebook. I'm just glad not everyone is onto it

  • I've definitely thought the same thing! That's it like one of the remaining vestiges of 90s internet - or it looks that way anyway. Yet, it's still really good.

  • It does seem that way, I like the style of all text and no pictures. Keeps it neat and clean and clutter free,

  • Sometimes simple is good :) it definitely doesn't look bad. I've seen some pretty bad looking websites.

    • Minimalist isn't quite the same as simple. Just a way of approaching something in a particular fashion. Not the same thing as minimal. Minimalistically designed stuff is mostly focus oriented and based on a smarter than average architecture. There's art, music, movies of this type and yes, even websites.

In a movie i. e., this deliberate style will actually make you focus very much on certain elements and bridge gaps in the story line, without leaving much of a gap for interpretation but also without telling you what is good/important and what is bad/unimportant. It's different than abstract movies in that it lets you choose and decide meanings but within a limited, usually realistic circumstance. It lets you do all this and think for yourself while you immerse in a situation. Far different from watching mainstream movies with stereotypes and 'tags', where things are 'that is that and that is that'.

        • *Stares into fireplace, wine glass in hand*

*Eyes still fixed on the raging flames swell with tears that do not drain*

...I too once had a bitchy username...

*Awkward silence as you try to figure out what the hell I'm talking about*

*Grip tightens and the wine glass shatters as a single tear dribbles into onto the pile of shattered glass on the Persian carpet*
