As others have pointed out, it depends what you mean by "extreme".
Truly extreme greens believe that we should be taking drastic, positive steps towards greatly reducing the population of humans because of the stress we're putting on every aspect of the environment. And by drastic, I mean things like mandatory birth control for everyone, and perhaps even deliberately creating pandemics with high fatality rates.
It's difficult to morally justify that - and even harder to accept that you and those you care about should volunteer to die for the greater good of humanity and the planetary ecosystem - but projections for the growth of the human population based on historic trends are pretty damn scary.
There are more than twice as many humans alive today than there were when I was born in the mid-1950s, and the rate of increase shows little sign of slowing. We're in the middle of a massive, accidental experiment to determine just how many humans can survive on this little ball of rock. The final result of the experiment is far from clear, but what is certain is that there's only a finite amount of physical resources and energy available to us.
