Is it normal to think that beats by dre are overpriced and overrated?

Beats by Dre are pretty much just glorified quiet mini speakers that attach to your ears and connect at the same time. If I wanted that for cheaper, I would buy two tylt speakers for $10 each modify them to pair at the same time, then put them in a gutted out $5 pair of headphones. It would be pretty much the same exact thing as Beats by Dre. Beats by Dre do not sound nearly loud enough in your ears to justify being heard from three rooms over. I get it on my walls are thin as fuck, but there's no excuse for the sound to travel that widely. My $5 pair of earbuds are a lot louder and can't be heard from a fraction of the distance away. On top of that, I feel like I'm also carrying a dumbbell on top of my head. What are those things, 5lb? Way to fucking heavy.

I don't understand why anyone would pay top whack for headphones, or anything for that matter.

It's like getting a pair of trainers (sneakers for you US folk) for a grand. Like who does that? You can legit walk into a sports shop and buy a pair of Nike's for £60 (I don't know what that is in $ but it isn't anywhere near $1000!) and they still fit comfortably on your feet, which is their job...

Most of the people I knew who had expensive headphones, shoes, cars, and clothes were pretentious people who only owned them to show off. We live in a ghetto area, so I never understood why they'd put showing off over paying rent or getting a job. XD

I know thats wild. Ive met dudes at work who wear the nicest shit, Gucci bags and beat headphones and working LABOR in $200 jordans. Then you go to their place and its a dump. But theyll be driving a new Cadillac.

I really want to know the mindset behind this type of spending. Like, what good does it do? That's money they could've spent on something useful. Then again, it's their life and I suppose thet can do what they want with it. I think the reason I'm annoyed over it is because these people looked down on me because I'm not materialistic and I don't spend my money on those things. XD

heh, when someone shows off their expensive belongings, all that does, ALL that does, is attract thieves.

There are a few things I would spend a lot on, but not many. A house, a holiday, and a really, REALLY nice leather jacket.

Nothing else is worth it to me. Most things can be bought cheaply of you aren't too picky.

It seems to be a popular opinion that "Beats" headphones are overpriced junk.

My $20 Sony ones sound just fine.

i love my jbl everest bluetooth headphones for flyin

ive run em for 20+ hours on a single charge and the sound quality is great

ive never tried beats but ive heard theyre low quality & overpriced and that they add metal for weight to make em seem like the speakers have bigger magnets than they do

soon as dr dre has an actual doctorate in electrical or audio engineerin ill consider a pair

Apart from being the braggiest, ghetto headphones you can buy, their quality is also terrible.

Just adding more bass does not improve your listening experience. Some people like the bass to be so hard and harsh that it drowns out everything else, but that's nonsense. Clean, high quality bass is awesome, but the bass in Beats by dre is not that.

For a product that claims to have "high sound quality", it fails pretty miserably. It's the same with most home cinema systems. Add more bass and people will like it. No!

I have a pair of Pioneer headphones that cost me like 100 bucks and they have a much better, clearer and crisper sound than the 350 buck Beats by dre.
Granted, I only use my Pioneer headphones at home, when I'm playing videogames, or when I want to listen to music, but can't blast it at home, cause Germany...

But for outside use, the standard in-ear headphones my S7 Samsung came with are more than adequate. Also better than comparable Beats by dre with a nicer and cleaner sound.

Pioneer speakers never did impress me, but you say the headphones sound good?

I do like most Pioneer products, usually had good luck with them. Definitely a name I trust.

Their speakers are ok, but if it's professional grade quality you want, I recommend Yamaha speakers. Probably the best sound you can get, without going bankrupt.

As for the headphones - they are good, mine are just below the DJ-range/ quality headphones and I've had mine for 3 years. They work well, they are comfortable and the fake leather hasn't peeled off yet. Normally fake leather on headphones goes bad in about 3-4 years.
