Is it normal to think that all homophobic men are probably gay themselves!

It's apparently a widespread thought, so yes, it's normal. However, I don't believe it's always true. It's like saying that everyone who says something mean is "just jealous". (one of my pet peeves)

Sometimes people are just downright mean or against something.

I think homophobia is caused by a variety of reasons, denial being one of them.

*The image of gay men as portrayed in the media is men that are players and have high pitched, feminine voices. The image of the grown, hairy guy running around at the gay pride parade in glitter, a tutu and fairy wings doesn't help either. Knowing enough normal gay men can easily clear up the perception that the media leaves us with, not to mention distinguishing your disgust. It's cool to be disgusted by men running around in tutus and fairy wings screaming "I'M HERE I'M QUEER OMGWTF GET OVER IT", but projecting that onto all homosexuals is wrong.

*The idea that lesbians are women that hate men. This was probably spurred by many militant feminists who are lesbians as well. Women who hate men are sexists. Lesbians who hate men are sexists. But not all women and lesbians are sexists. In fact, most aren't. 7 billion people on earth, yo, and not all of them are the result of rape.

*Butt sex between men. I think it's gross. Men think it's gross. Men don't like thinking that some people want to have butt sex with them. Niether do I. But for fuck's sake, quit thinking about butt sex if you hate it so much. I've seen straight people do nastier things.

*The belief that we were all placed on this Earth to reproduce. I'm not even going to explain how fucking stupid that it.

*The pressure to be anti-gay from inside and outside Christian organizations due to the many passages in the bible that detail how men shouldn't screw men. Even Atheists will jump on Christians who admit to being pro-gay rights as being "not true believers". Maybe a man shouldn't lay with a man and maybe I shouldn't tell my husband to go fuck a dog whenever he pisses me off. I don't have to answer for anyone else's sins and I believe that, in the end, what is good is judged by the outcome. A shitty straight married couple raising shitty kids can not be judged as better than a good gay couple raising good kids because the straight couple doesn't have matching genetalia, at least not by any reasonable person.

*Being molested as children. But that'll make you hate anyone.

*Being raised to be anti-gay.

*Having a chick leave you for another chick.

*Or actually being gay. Take your pick.

Some of them could be gay, but there's no need to exaggerate. I don't think all of them are gay.

It's not true. I support gays 100% and am also 100% straight. Back in the day I was extremely homophobic until I realized that I was only doing it because I wanted to keep people from thinking I was also gay. After outing my true opinions on the matter I've been accused of being gay multiple times, but after a firm assertion that I'm straight people usually shrug and assume I'm straight.

Some of them might be, but I think it's more likely that they are just feeling uncomfortable around homosexuals, because they do not have any homosexual friends and haven't had any social contact with them.

EDIT: Oh, and just like TumbleStar said, some people are just mean or against something. There are many reasons why someone might be against something, not just religious or political.

No and homosexuals need to realize that some men can be legitimately disgusted by the idea of man on man action. I never really was friends with any gay men until I got a job as a server. For some reason I was the only straight male server I became friends with two of the servers and I realized that not all gay men are afreminate hate sports and love real house wives of wherever. Honestly I had more in common with them then many of my straight friends one thing that surprised me was that they both said they hate faggots. To them over the top afreminate gay men are disgusting so would you call them homophobic openly gay men honestly I think most men that are so called homophobic really just share the same view as these 2 guys it's not that men's orientation bothers them its just the way they present themselves.

There's a variety of reasons (already stated above) that people can be homophobic.

Homophobics should just be dounright ashamed of themselfs, but mostly of their piers. Its about as discusting as how people discriminated agains blacks during the underground railroad ._. It make me sick just thinking how there can still be hate in a world this far ahead

What about homophobic women? You think their lesbians?

Or perhaps they just don't like being pestered by homosexuals? I have been pestered by two. One was suggesting sexual activity, and one was pretty much sexually harrassing me.

I'm not a homophobe, but I can see why some people might be.
