Is it normal to think that 2012 will happen

Considered how many people in the world is acting crazy about "Oh the worlds gonna end what's gonna happen to me and my kids" well its not gonna happen almost everyone in the world is going nuts that they start selling their personal belongings, their house, and sometime spending every money they have on crap then sell it.. So my point is yes it's normal but don't freak out cause IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!

They did stop at an even number. They made 5000 years of calendars and stopped. Our numbering system for years is different then theirs was. There are still cultures that do this. 2012 is not going to be the apocalypse. Or if it is it has nothing to do with the Mayan calendar. They just stopped making future calendars.

Well the collapse of the US dollar will happen in 2012-2013 so I guess for most americans it will basically be the end of the world. Thats what you get when your monetary system is backed up by faith.

The Mayans were extraordinary mathematicians. If you'd look it up instead of worrying you'd find that there's a perfectly mathematical reason the calendar finishes on that date.

2012 is just as accurate as both of the end dates that were supposed to happen this year. Stop being paranoid over something stupid and live life.

People forget that the mayans were wiped out by sickness and war. Maybe the people left just didn't know how to do the whole" finish the calendar thing" OR when I put my class schedule in my agenda I can only go so far till I get bored, maybe the Mayan dude was like " fuck this I won't be around in 2012 I think I can take a break and pick this up later" And, our calendar ends every year and starts over, don't worry about it! Not happening!

It makes me wonder why they stopped the calendar at that date - why not a more round number - that in itself scares me a bit. I try not to think about it. I think that my worries would be exhaserbated if I had children.
