  • I want trying to upset you. I have found that most people choose a hospital because there is no reasonable alternative available. My best friend's mom was a midwife so a hospital birth always seemed like the second choice to me, never the first. But that isn't how it works in this country. I don't blame the person, I blame the concept of western medicine.

Even reading your reply there are things that stick out that horrify me as a common practice. Like the not eating. Yes, if you end up in surgery, having food in your stomach, even water can be a bad thing for the mother. However depriving the mother of food makes her weak. She needs strength. It creates a situation that accommodates problems, not help them. If your body had a little extra nourishment it may have been able to avoid intervention. But doctors like control. And this is what makes me mad. The whole idea that women need help doing what we are designed to do. Sometimes, yes, we do. But not as a common practice. And sometimes eating a few nuts and drinking some electrolytes may give us that energy to endure.

God, even though I have midwives though the local hospital they haven't once asked me about my diet. It is so frustrating.

And ha! A little boy will make you crazy. They love being dirty.

    • I know there are other options available. And some people do at home births... and birth in water. So I know I have options .

I assumed the no food thing was to keep me from pooping while having the baby... I heard that was something that happens.

No one asked me about my diet at the hospital... but I didnt expect them to. My ragular doctor asked me about that stuff.

Lol ... I just carry around wipes :P
