They are covered in blood and fluid... they are dirty
the doctors should bath them and bundle them for you... but some dont. I made sure tgey did that for me.
I do not want to be covered in blood and fluid and be sticky. I do not like the feeling of being sticky.
Should? Not really a matter of should. But maybe in a hospital where the concept of natural childbirth is a mystery. Must intervene with every aspect of birth.
And why the hell is a doctor involved, are you sick? Is the baby sick. The US treats birth like an illness. Which it is not and people are so ignorant about it.
I get the impression that there was no concern for the placenta. Just cut the cord while it is still throbbing. Clean that baby up first, wouldn't want to get a little sticky after hours of being a little sticky.
Personally, I have no desire to have my baby taken from me the moment he enters the world. A little bit of fluid on my skin is a sacrifice I am willing to make, lord knows he will bee peeing and puking on me in the future.
I said doctor but it would be a doctor who delivers the baby checks its health...nurses clean the baby
Im sorry did you give birth in a cave???
I had a doctor... thus decreasing the chances of complication. During my birthing I was in the hospital for 3 days. My water only broke a little so was slowly leaking. They tried to induce labor with medicine at first. That wasnt working so the doctor went in and broke the water.
Then he kindly delivered my baby with a few nurses standing there just in case... my mom and my bf. My bf cut the umbilical cord.
He watched as they cleaned her ... bundled her... then handed her to me. I tore a little and needed stitches.
I was never sticky... they clean you up down there.... they dont make you sit in your fluid...
so I was clean and my baby was clean.
After the hospital will instruct you on proper wash for yourself... since I had some stitches down there... and they make sure the baby can drink from you.
They have a photographer come in and offer newborn pics.
You fill out paper work.
and you pick your meal.
its very nice.
You got in the middle of my rant about the whole system. Sorry. But since we are sharing.
I attempted a home birth. I labored at home. Rented a tub and soaked for relief and a potential water birth. My water never broke fully but never never never break the water. There is no need for it. Being born in the cul is magical. Breaking the water doesn't speed up delivery. Doctors often intervene when unnecessary.
anyway. My baby kept having decels and the midwives were concerned. You know, certified nurse midwives trained in the art of baby catching, not the art of how do we make this easier for us medics. But there is a time and a place for doctors. My baby was struggling so I ended up with a cesarean. They gently removed him. Stitched me up and let dad hold him as they wiped him down a bit, then put him on me, then covered both of us with a heated blanket. I am glad the surgeon was available, but most births don't actually require the level of intervention the doctors give. Most don't even know what a natural childbirth looks like. And with all this intervention we don't actually have a better success rate. It is worse.
But wish me luck, take two will be a different experience. But I still wont worry about fluid or stickiness. I expect to get some on me. It would be weird not to.
Np
I got upset because people that choose a hospital arnt less or arnt aware just because they chose a hospital.
As soon as they broke my water I had the baby. Seemed dangerous to just keep letting me leek fluid. Also I was pretty happy they did that because they wont feed you while your in the hospital... Just ice and popsicles.
and I was estatic my baby was born on valentines day.
They didnt brake my water right away... they wanted to wait but when it starts taking 3 days then they intervened.
I couldnt have a baby at home. I cant handle that much pain... I chose an epidural.
For the most part except one bitch nurse I felt well taken care of.
After my baby was born and in my arms everyone left the room... like everyone. Im not sure why... my best bet was to let me bond while my mom and bf talked to the doctor and stuff.
But I remember looking at her for like a min... then passed the f out lol. when i woke she was still in my arms luckily! And my mom and bf walked back in a few min later.
if I have another I requested already I not be left alone just in case I pass out again. O_o
I do wish you the best of luck :)
I just cant stand to be sticky... my daughter was such clean baby... like I kept her so clean... anytime she even got a little sticky I cleaned her off right away... XD
I want trying to upset you. I have found that most people choose a hospital because there is no reasonable alternative available. My best friend's mom was a midwife so a hospital birth always seemed like the second choice to me, never the first. But that isn't how it works in this country. I don't blame the person, I blame the concept of western medicine.
Even reading your reply there are things that stick out that horrify me as a common practice. Like the not eating. Yes, if you end up in surgery, having food in your stomach, even water can be a bad thing for the mother. However depriving the mother of food makes her weak. She needs strength. It creates a situation that accommodates problems, not help them. If your body had a little extra nourishment it may have been able to avoid intervention. But doctors like control. And this is what makes me mad. The whole idea that women need help doing what we are designed to do. Sometimes, yes, we do. But not as a common practice. And sometimes eating a few nuts and drinking some electrolytes may give us that energy to endure.
God, even though I have midwives though the local hospital they haven't once asked me about my diet. It is so frustrating.
And ha! A little boy will make you crazy. They love being dirty.
IIN to think human infants are ugly?

This is the complete opposite reaction I had. Clean? They aren't dirty. Unless something went wrong.
