In the past social groups have had other social groups that oppose them, mods and rockers, skinheads and punks, Goths and everyone in the world.
But Hipsters have no known predators and as a result they are now breeding in plague proportions. Kill all hipsters.
Maybe it's because no one I know can agree on what a hipster is, some people say someone who wears a plaid shirt and converse is a hipster, other say anyone who likes experimental or obscure music is a hipster, others say people who like old fashioned things are hipsters or other people who say they preferred certain bands before they got big, a lot of people say that anyone who lives a vegan or eco conscious lifestyle is a hipster, its like no one can definitively describe the parameters of being a hipster
Also with other social groups like punks and mods etc people associate with them whereas hipster is often projected onto someone as a label rather than something the person identifies with and often as an insulting label, I don't know a single person who has ever identified as a hipster
And I'd actually argue that if there is such a thing as a hipster the natural predator would be pretty much everyone else who isn't labeled as one, but I still think being angry with hipsters is like trying to catch smoke
In my country there are bogans. (Similar to a redneck). These bogans come from low socio economic backgrounds and are usually poorly educated, crass and vulgar. A new breed of bogan has come through; the steroid taking meth smoking bogan. They're damn scary. They're the polar opposite to a hipster and guess what? They don't like 'em.
