Is it normal to tell my partner that she's the shining star?

I went texting her at night and told her she's the shining star in the night skies and she thinks I'm sweet for telling her that.

I also tell my partner in person that she is as bright as the moonlight.

I don't tell her too much compliments of course.

Is this compliment normal?

yes, it's very normal, a star is something that shines in the darkest night, saying that to your partner is like telling her she makes your day bright in the darkest days
you should definitely learn to compliment and flirt with her more dude

    yeah it's cute

i mean some people might find those lines cheesy and it depends on what kind of personalities you both have but if she likes those compliments then they're very sweet

Idk...did you wildly flail your arms about whilst telling her? If you didn't, it doesn't count.

    See, look

    You're a shining...

    *gently raises arms*

    Star...

    *violently thrashes arms*

See, it's called being poignant. Try it.

You’d better be wildly flailing your arms about whilst telling her.

Its great the you are learning to compliment your partner.

Learn to do it frequently and in various unique ways.

    It has the best payback...
