Iin, to suck at small talk?

I really think that I suck at small talk. I suck at when I'm talking to someone whom I haven't spoken with in a long time and if a random person, whom I don't know, attempts to strike up a conversation with me.

It's puts me on the spot. I don't know what to say and in the process, I know that i am comming off as uninterested and I fear, even a bitch.

I'm only good at small talk with people that I know very well, that I like, and that I am comfortable with. IIN?

Is It Normal?

  • Likewise. I can't do the whole "Oh how are you? what was your weekend like? blahblahblah" When I talk to people, I want it to be real and meaningful. I would much rather open up and talk about really personal stuff to a person that I have just met than play the whole small-talk game with them.

  • Like everything else, you've just got to practice. Try to talk to people on a regular basis. If you show an interest in someone else's life, they'll be more interested in yours.

  • Same here. I am naturally uninterested in people's personal lives and I like minding my own business, I have been called antisocial just because I forget to ask people about their life every 5 minutes. Fuck them.

  • I'd rather get sucked than have small talk anyway...

  • I usually just start the small-talk and encourage the other person with facial expressions to avoid being awkward. I listen and let them do all the talking with a few pointers here and there, and I am still considered as sociable.
