I think it's safe to assume that you have at least webcammed before right? It would be a terrible surprise to find out his display picture was not him.
And just because Internet dating is, to a degree, frowned upon, doesn't mean it it won't work. Perhaps you have had success with this unlike me.
Well there isn't much I can say apart from the obvious, go with your heart. Try dating without going into a relationship. See if your feelings for him are reciprocated. I'm sure they are. What have you got to lose besides your virginity?
