Is it normal to spend 16-20 hours in bed on most days?
When I'm in bed I sleep, think, daydream or don't do anything. At most I'm up and about for 5-8 hours everyday, considering if sitting at my desk on my PC counts.

Hello
You're probably suffering from depression. I've been like you and still is some times. It's easier in bed, you can daydream about everything you want, no one is bothering you, you can rest and sleep, feel good on your matress. I know the feeling.
But it is usually a symptom of depression. As a martial artist, my training keep me going. If you want your situation to change, you need to find a hobby or someone that will help you get through this and do something.
I hope this helps.
This is my dream, only a wonderful dream, because I will be waked up by my cat's meowing and my dog's nosing every morning. They need breakfast, morning walks, and my companion. Although it seems that I am forced to leave my bed every day, the fact is that I have formed a habit to regulate my time and plan my schedule in a whole day. What's more, when walking my dog in the early morning, I met different kinds of people and was shocked that many of peers are more diligent than me! I have no reason to escape my job and slack off in the bed. Everyone should be responsible for their lives, and pets will help you to foster a sense of responsibility. Additionally, people with severe sleep disorders need the help of service dogs,as some of the illnesses may cause incidents unconsciously.
