Is it normal to revert to thoughts of my childhood during stressful times?

I am under constant stress at my job. I own my own business, and I'm currently the only one managing it. It's alot of work and effort to do everything by myself, and during these stressful times I can't help but think back to my childhood, a time when things we're so much more innocent and carefree. I think back to times when I first met my bestfriend, had my first car, and etc. Most of the time, I think about things like the pranks me and my friends pulled on each other, the video games we played, the laughs we had, the places we went to, and times when we didn't get along. This rush of Nostalgia helps me to relieve my stress, but I don't know if it's healthy to keep constantly looking back on the past as a way to deal with stress. Is this normal?

It's funny - I asked the same question a few weeks ago myself. I even take it a step further and actually watch the TV shows from my child hood or look up the toys I played with as a child and reminisce etc I spend hours daydreaming about what was and i get so so sad thinking it will never be the same again and that we'll all just get old and life more complicated and convoluted - add to that financial stress etc

I think it is normal to turn to things that help you stay positive and sane - i think it is your brain;s way of protecting you - but i dont know if it healthy if it doesnt stop soon. If you end up just dreaming about the past all the time and cannot accept the present or future, like i am doing i guess, then it becomes a problem

Ahhh Childhood good times. If it helps you relieve stress go for it. What helps me in stressful times is when i grab a fork and put it to my eye to look through it and pretend everyone around me is in jail.
