Is it normal to post funny status updates you didn't make onto your facebook ?

I would love to be funny and make good jokes, but I could never do either. To get people to like my status updates on facebook, I decided to find funny quotes or already-made status updates on the internet and post them onto my status. Yes, there are are websites that have thousands of ideas to get your friends to "like" your status. It is plagerism, but who the hell cares? Have any of you done this before?

I care. Not about you, but about plagiarism. Stop pretending to be something you aren't. I don't understand why you'd like getting likes for someone else's words. They're not your words and those likes aren't people liking you or your words, but somebody else's. You're just a messenger. Doing it every now and again is fine, but if all your status updates or somebody else's words, then I personally find that strange, unless it's clear that they aren't your words.

Although, to be honest, it can't be much worse than some of the crap I see on my newsfeed. I have a friend who keeps writing statuses about how much she loves it when people call her "babes" or "baby". It makes her "woooooft", whatever the fuck that even means.

Calm down. I don't do it every day. I've only done it once and a lot of people liked what I wrote. I plan on doing it every week or two. I make up what I can once in a while, but they're not as funny.

  • Do what ever you can to be noticed, if you so desire.

Sounds stupid to me. Then again, I find everything about facebook these days stupid.

Once again, the top comment first impressions have dictated everyone's opinions. I say it's fine. My sister does that too.
I wouldn't say it's pandering for likes, so much as it is spreading a funny joke.

Why would you even bother to pander for "likes" on Facebook anyways? Don't you have a life?
Also, I hate people who post shit that they didn't even come up with. It's insulting to the original author and when they get a bunch of likes, it inflates their heads and they think they're hot shit and that they're funny. It then bleeds over to real life and then you have an asshole whose only jokes are the ones he finds online.

When i used to use facebook all my status came from me i didn't care for likes or dislikes (i know that isn't a thing) i don't use face book anymore too many people changing there updates ever 3 seconds.

ie. I am at home...i am getting changed...i decided to go out... i am out my front door... no change for the tramp today... need some milk... oh hello asda are you gonna take lots of my money by claiming i will save money with you... i didn't save any money i spent £100 for what...got put my shopping away.

One day i did this i found it hilarious that i about 25 people unfriended me.

"To steal ideas from one is plagiarism, to steal from many is research."

I used to upload my artwork to facebook, but then I got super internet paranoid and took it all down. People "borrowing" things on the net is so common, nobody pays attention to copyright and people don't understand the amount of work that goes into creating the original image, they just see it on google images and use it. It is actually intellectual property theft and at times a violation of copyright to use the work, or words of another person without giving them credit.

How can you feel good about people "liking" stuff which is not your own? They are simply liking someone else's work under the disguise its your own. It's far more gratifying to come up with your own ideas and have a few people liking it, than to use someone elses and have many like it. surely! Don't you feel guilty?
Also, your friends on facebook would think that you are wittier or more insightful than you actually are if you continue to borrow the ideas of others. You may eventually be caught out on this or regarded as fake. Some people may even recognize the source material. I'd be careful.

I've included this short youtube comedy skit (from the show "big train") that sums it up. And its funny. Enjoy :)
