Is it normal to only get video game nausea from playing spyro?

What is says on the tin.

I actually play a lot of games all the time and I have never once encountered this problem. But I recently went on a nostalgia binge and started playing all these PS1 games from my childhood, and when I got to Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, it gave me this chronic headache that lasted for hours.

The nausea gets so bad that I have to lie down and do nothing for hours until it goes away, or throw up for (almost) instant relief.

Is this normal?

  • It's the way the screen moves in that particular game. I get video game nausea too so it's sort of common I'm guessing.

  • Good lord ever since I was like 6 spyro made me nauseous and gave me a headache I have no idea why. You're not alone, I usually just take Advil or Migralief though if I really want to play.

    • It's just in general, doesn't matter if I'm swimming or flying, even running around give me a headache! I haven't played the other ones recently so I'm not sure, but when i played them in the past i dont remember getting as nauseous as i am now.

      • Aww, that's unfortunate... I love the Spyro ps1 series! Are you using an emulator or the real thing? And which other ps1 games did you play recently?

        • I'm using an emulator on my pc (since I don't actually own a PS1 anymore), but I still have all the game discs ( which I only recently found), which is what inspired me to download an emulator and play them again.

I've been playing things like Rampage: World Tour, Rayman, Metal Slug, Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Crash Bandicoot: Warped, and Chulip. I haven't had this problem with any of these games, which is what got me really curious. Especially since the Spyro series has always been one of my favourites !
