Is it normal to not wash my socks since they don't smell that sour yet?

Socks for me are a wear once and wash kinda thing. If it was only like 3 hours you were wearing them then that's a different story but regardless if other people can smell them. Wash them.

Smell doesn't constitute anything; you're still sweating, accumulating bacteria, grime, etc. by having them over your feet, inside of shoes, for up to 12 hours a day.

That's a recipe for chronically itchy feet, contact dermatitis, fungal infections, and worse.

How hard is it to throw them in the tub with you?

I guess I do not get to wash them. Yesterday I had the door open and those socks ran off on their own.

Navy here. If you think you know how bad socks can get you dont know the half of it. Ives seen peoples socks when they choose not to wash them. Socks that have been worn for months without a washing. Fungi started to grow in one guys pair.

Moral of the story: wash your damn socks.
