Is it normal to not want to share my music?

I've gotten into so many arguments because friends got angry that I don't want to show them what I'm listening to. Is it weird?

I just feel like it's too personal. Music is like my safe place and the things I listen to(mostly) speak to my on a very personal level and showing that to other people feels like I'm exposing myself. It almost feels like they'd be reading my diary.

Sharing my music with loved ones is a way of bonding IMHO.

Most of the people I've known in my life were down to turn me on to the tunes they were digging. I honestly don't see the big deal.

Music is personal to me too and I assume most people won't like what I like so I'd rather them not know. I guess most people are not like that but I agree with you OP.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I have a lot of very personal songs that, even though they're not specifically for me, I want to be "only" mine. I also have music I enjoy sharing because it's fun and spreads joy. Some music I turn to when I'm sad, and I would rather not share that with others because it's when I feel vulnerable, and I shouldn't have to share that.

It is normal. Especially when it is young testosterone males who are curious. They have a problem with everything.

Always somebody gotta talk shit about someone else's taste in things.

No one really wants to hear things like "That music sucks. Back in my day we had REAL music!" or maybe "Oh my god, only fags listen to that shit!" Sometimes it might be, "That is so old! Get with the times".

I take it you are probably young? As you get older, you will find that people are basically assholes about everything they do not agree with. That is why many people keep their hobbies or whatever they enjoy to themselves.

I like sharing my music. Even if it speaks to me on a personal level, or whatever. Good music is good music and I am ok with sharing my music.

It's mostly old rock, hard rock, metal, heavy metal, a bit of country, some pop songs and some Bulgarian music.
(Note: When under the influence of Alcohol it's mostly Bulgarian music)

I think it's unusual to not want to discuss it, but it's your choice. It's weird that someone would actually start an argument with you over that.

Your friends can't force you to share what music you listen to, I think arguments only happen because your friends over-react the situation.
