Is it normal to not share the same glass or bottle with anyone else?

Ok so ever since I'm a kid I was told never to share a glass, bottle or whatever I'm drinking from or putting in my mouth with anybody else who I don't know, because that's the perfect way to contract some illness or something like that.

Thing is that it has become something that is almost OCD-like, I won't even let my family drinking from the same glass, can, bottle or whatever, and if they do I'll almost compulsively clean the thing before drinking again, and even then I'll be disgusted.

Am I the only one?

Personally I don't care about this amongst family and close friends, because with close people you are sharing a lot of germs anyway. But I know a lot of people who feel the same way as you OP. I think it's pretty normal.

Same my ex would get a little offended because if he wanted to taste my drink I would be very hesitant about it and sometimes just hand it to him like "yeah and you can keep it" and he didn't like this xD I just think its gross tho.
I guess i'm a bit picky though I also don't like kissing with tounge because it feels unhygenic and gross.

I've always been disgusted by the thought of French kissing (though to be honest, nothing intimate has ever done anything for me; but I've always thought the idea of having one's tongue in my mouth or sticking my tongue in their mouth and swapping spit was horrendously disgusting). My thought has always been, what if one of us has bad breath? It would be humiliating if it was me, and I'd probably throw up if it was the other person.

Been there, it was barely noticeable really, French kissing is actually kinda cool IMO, but yeah, it does feel gross sometimes.

Refraining from showing disgust if you discovered a lump of rotten food in their mouth shows love, hehe....

As far as i know thats just normal hygiene esp during covid. My mom never shared stuff either because mouth herpies are a thing.

Human mouths are loaded with all sorts of viruses and bacteria, and putting your lips on something moist that someone else has just had their lips on is a viable path for transmission of those bacteria and viruses between the two of you.

So I agree with your mother: it's best to avoid sharing drinking containers with people you aren't very close to.

Family members are different. If nobody in your family is kissing or sharing drinking containers with people outside your family, I see little point in being obsessive about this, since you'll most likely catch whatever they have by some other transmission path in any case.

    • I still feel heavily disgusted by sharing with my family or even with a romantic partner in most situations. Sometimes I'm able to somewhat ignore it and push it to the back of my head but this clearly causes some problems since friends and even family end up thinking I'm surly and that I don't like them.

But, why also romantic partners? You get their spit in your mouth when you kiss them, anyway.

    • It does actually interfere in my social life, since I'll always reject drinks and it'll look like I don't want anything specifically from them.

My dad was like that. If you accidentally took a sip from his drink he would throw it out.

Oh that’s pretty common. It’s only an issue if you are uptight about it to the extent that you noticeably come off as weird to others.

The question is do you believe in penis? As in do you believe they exist?

For me it depends on who it is. If it's my boyfriend, I don't care. If it's a coworker, they ain't taking a sip of any of my stuff. Lol

I probably wouldn't feel comfortable passing a blunt, or whatever with someone nowadays, because I don't want to take a chance at getting, or passing on the Covid 19 virus!

I've been very sad, and basically keeping to myself for the past two days. My uncle's partner of 27 years, she passed away of Covid virus on Saturday, and on Sunday my father told me that his bestfriend from college, whom I've met twice, and is the sweetest guy died of cancer. It's just heartbreaking!

Normal, some people care more about this sort of thing than others. I will drink after family and close friends, but no one else. I've also become less afraid of germs over time, especially having worked in the cleaning industry.
