Is it normal to not let a person grieve

I had to give my animal up to shelter. However people in my family believe animal life isn't worth anything. So gave me the attitude of get the hell over it. I can't any longer speak with them until they understand why it hurt. However they keep messaging me and trying contact me and won't leave me be. They keep asking me do stuff for them even though I'm miles away. I just wish they'd go die so I'd be free of my misery and can leave them behind. Is there a better way to get them to leave me alone other then saying "please kill yourself and leave me alone".

They can't stop you from grieving, which is entirely normal and everyone grieves in their own way and their own time. However, you don't have to respond to their lack of empathy or demands you don't want to meet. Tell them to leave you alone for a while and then stop responding: they'll get the message.

They can't really stop your grieving. It isn't their problem.

    • I had to stop because caring about animals is pathetic. So I just have nightmares about it now.

Not really pathetic, unless you get hysteric about it.

It's not pathetic, and you don't "have" to do anything, much less stop grieving the loss of your pet until you are ready to do so. I had a similar situation about 16 years ago myself.

Just tell your family to go fuck themselves, then follow that up with no contact for however long you decide if you feel so inclined.

You want family members to kill themselves because they aren't heartbroken because you had to turn your gerbil over to an animal shelter.

Three words of advice: Get over yourself.

    • No, I don't expect them to care. You missed the point.
