  • I have no idea where you got the idea that lube is only for post-menopausal women. Vaginal dryness is common in women after the menopause, but if the market was actually limited to sexually active women over fifty, there wouldn't be such a huge variety of lubes available.

It is possible that you're naturally just not very juicy. Some women aren't, and that's not something to be ashamed of.

Like most things related to female sexuality, vaginal lubrication is a complicated and lots of things can affect it. If you're using the contraceptive pill, that could be reducing how much vaginal lubrication you produce. Some women can feel very aroused sexually, but their body takes a little time to respond to what's going on in their head. Some women experience marked differences in their vaginal lubrication at different phases of their cycle.

There's nothing at all wrong about using lube, but your age makes me wonder if you've experimented on your own enough to be familiar with your sexual response. If you get very wet when you're messing around with yourself, but you experience too much friction when you're having sex with someone else, then obviously something isn't quite right with what the two of you are doing and what's going on in your head then. If you never get very wet when you're masturbating even though you can get to orgasm, then it could be worthwhile for you to talk to your gynaecologist about this.

    • Sounds like you haven't had a younger woman in a long time. Your answer has a lot of presumptions, but thank you. The link was helpful.
