Sounds like a love gone-wrong song. Do you really have flowers? I'm more of a big leaf foliage person. Small flowers are too delicate for me, I like big ones as well, like birds of paradise, anturium, lobster-claws (unrelated to the recent lobster conversations haha) and peace lilies... but mainly because of the foliage that comes with them.
The only flowers I have are a Christmas cactus and an orchid that never blooms. I inherited them from my mother after she passed away. I have a couple air plants(tillandsia)in the kitchen window.
Aw, keep them happy to honor your mom! I have 2 orchids, one bloomed at least twice but only after 3 years of caring for her. At first I was a bit disappointed though, the flowers are also green. The other one is a rebel.
IIN to name and talk to your plants?

The orchid is kind of cool even if it won't bloom. The roots sticking out all over make it look like an alien life form.
