I absolutely cannot believe that there are so many of us! My mother told me I wore off all the satin trim on all of my baby blankets. She called it "twitching". I have no memory of when I started to do it, it seems like it's always been there. I grew up with homemade satin pillowcases that I wore out as well and not the polyester-type satin, it was the acetate type that was thick and it's not too common anymore. It drove my sister nuts to hear it! (It still does!) It was a on again off again thing for years. I would even find some of the material in pockets worked well for "twitching" I tried to discipline myself against it and that never worked. I asked my sister-in-law about it (quite nervous by basically "coming out" to a social worker ) and she simply told me that if it doesn't hurt anyone and isn't illegal, then there's nothing wrong with it! That said, I still found it difficult to find just the right type of satin until I hit the mother lode a few years back! I came across yards and yards of it at a thrift store and bought it all. Needless to say, I have enough satin to "twitch" the rest of my life and cut 8-10 inch squares off as needed.....thank you!!
IIN to love to rub fabrics between my fingers?
