Similar story to the rest- when I was a baby, I had a pillow with frilly edges I'd run between my thumb/index & middle finger as I sucked my thumb. When I got older (kindergarten), my mom convinced me to give it up, along with my thumb-sucking. The pillow is long gone, but for whatever reason, I never quite lost the habit of feeling certain fabrics, running them back-and-forth between my fingers.
Now, the only fabric I'll do it on is windbreakers/similar materials. I'll make a pointed crease in the fabric with my finger and press the point down with my index/middle finger, make another, over and over again. Heck, I'm doing it as I write.
If I'm not wearing that material, I won't even think to do it, but if I'm wearing a rain jacket or windbreaker, I just can't help myself!
