Is it normal to lose all my friends

I'm in my senior year of highschool, and I'm a loner
During freshman year, I was much more outgoing and had a lot of fun with a lot of friends. They were friends I had already made during middle school.
However, in highschool, due to changes in schedule systems where each subject was a different class, I started to lose my grasp on relationships I had.
This is mostly because I don't see people outside of school. So if we aren't in the same class, I don't see them, and then our relationship withers away.
So while my old friends started adapting and making new friends, I was just sitting around getting replaced.
And now, I have zero friends. I don't talk to anyone all day. No one approaches me. I avoid people who I once were close to.

Just call your friends and see if they want to hangout

People still make phone calls? I thought that was an outdated practice from the times of house phones and high data rates

things change in college. I can tell you from experience that in my senior year of high school I had exactly one friend, and he was at a different high school about 20 minutes away. the reason was that he had been my friend through elementary and middle school but then my family had moved after eighth grade so I lost all my friends. and as you know it's hard socializing and making new friends in high school if you don't know anyone. so anyway the point is that in my senior year I had a class with probably the most popular guy in my entire graduating year and that's no exaggeration, he practically knew everyone and everyone knew him. well let's call him Rick. he was always cracking jokes and the life of the party. I kept my distance from him because I didn't trust him one bit. and not to mention the fact that I was literally invisible to everyone anyway. so come freshman year of college and I'm studying at the library and I see Rick with another guy who I also had seen from high school but never talked to, long story short this really popular guy who I thought never noticed me while we were still in school sends me a friend request on Facebook the very next day. I guess the moral of the story is just keep being you, be the best you can possibly be, and the people who matter will make their presence known to you.

That was a lot of buildup for just a Facebook friend request as the payoff... I'm going to imagine a different ending in my head so as not to feel so bad for reading the whole thing.

Why do you not visit with friends outside of school?

    • I've never felt interested. I prefer to stay home. It has a lot to do with my social anxiety, since if a friend invites me but I learn that they're bringing along another person who I don't know as well, chances are I will refuse.

Well then it's partially your own doing.

It happens. It's not that big of a deal, honestly. It's your last year. Not to mention you said you don't even hang out with friends outside of school. So you probably won't be with them after school ends.

  • Maybe you should join ISIS and make new friends there whilst shooting assault rifles and making bombs. Could be fun.
