Is it normal to live in constant fear of burglars ¿

I am extremely scared of someone breaking into my home.
I live on a calm street in a quite rich neighborhood.
I live on the second story of a two story house, own a normal sized Jagdhund and I'm quite strong.
But I still have to lock all the doors, check if the main entrance is locked, check if all the windows are closed and check if someones hiding in my house before I can go to sleep with my aluminum baseball bat.I dont even have expensive stuff to get stolen.

    you should really get something to defend yourself in case of burglary, I feel a lot safer with my gun

      Well I live in Germany and it's not that easy to get your hands on a firearm. I actually breach the borders of legality with owning a aluminum bat.
      Maybe I can ask Joerg sprave to build me one of those rubber launchers.
