Is it normal to lick your fingers before you pinch a candle or cigarette out.?

Or do you find that the moisture just conducts the heat and you just end up with dirty stained fingers.
At first, cigarettes feel hotter than a candle, but after a while, both my boyfriend and I can put our cigarettes with a single hard pinch without getting blisters.

It's normal to do this with a candle, but a cigarette...? Ouch... I haven't seen someone do that but if you can manage it without hurting yourself then fair play.

Just be aware that if you do this with cigarettes you will stink even more than smokers normally do.

The moisture hastens extinguishing a candle, and thus retards physical harm. Of course your fingers will be soiled with oily soot. Wash then. Don't pinch cigarettes, flick the cherry off into a proper receptacle.

I just drag the cigarette on a wall. But a candle yeah pinching it out is great when you don’t want wax to go everywhere.

Fine using the wall when I am outside, but not such a good idea to use the lounge wall when I am a a party at a friends house LOL.
My boyfriend mostly stubs them out against his jeans, but I do not fancy getting my faded jeans dirty, or burning my dress. At least I can easily wash my hands.

True, perhaps hosts who do not provide them at a party are trying to give smokers a gentle hint. LOL
I also think that a lot of people who have been burnt by a cigarette pressing lightly against them, do not realize that they need to pinch the cigarette quickly with a single hard pinch right on the glowing ember long enough to extinguish it before it has a chance to burn them.
