Is it normal to humor and lie simply to get more details from a conversation?

Like this whole election thing, I know people on both sides who like and hate the other. I stay neutral, truth be told. I didn't vote because I believe they will put in who ever they want, and voting is an illusion of freedom. As if we people actually have that kind of power.

Despite not being a racist and believing it's wrong to judge all skin colors and religions as a whole bad apples.

Also the whole anti gay thing of marriage being taken away, that's wrong too.

My friend hates Trump to the core because what he said about women, and the wall, and, well everything. Thing is, I don't think she knows I am humoring her because I like hearing what she thinks. And honestly, it is entertaining seeing a person get so riled up.

I Feel like I should study psychology since it interest me so much. Sometimes I think I would make a decent enough spy too. Since I know how to just go with it.

    It's weird if you actually lie about your own opinions. You can stay fairly neutral, see people's points of view or play devil's advocate - that's all normal. But to take a strong staunch point of view that you don't actually believe in would be weird. I'm not sure if that's what you mean.

    Most people probably just like talking about their own opinions, and just like to have them listened to or reinforced.
    It's ok to be a chameleon, but just don't fake things too much, it can come back to bite you. like, if you act completely differently around two different people, how would you act if they met?
    I don't know how extreme this all is, so I say normal.
