Is it normal to hit yourself?

Is it normal for me to hit myself on the head, hard enough to feel dizzy? I never get bruising and don’t do it super regularly but whenever I’m angry I’ll do it. Because otherwise I can’t release my anger. I’ve tried venting by drawing or writing but they don’t work, they just anger me more. I don’t do it out of self-hatred I more do it to convince myself that whoever angered me made me do it or to just put the emotional anger into physical pain to release it I guess.

I did this to myself in the past. It's not good for you or your mental health. If you stop doing it I promise you you'll actually feel better about whatever it is.

It sounds semi autistic to me. Is there a reason you can't control your impulses?

No I don’t think that’s the case, I can control them it’s just hard. I’m really social and don’t show any signs of autism lol

        Except for hitting yourself.

I can control that. I just feel an urge to when I’m angry, it gets rid of the anger more quickly.

It's not the act of hitting, that's just an external indication. The autism aspect is that you are unable to regulate your emotions.

Oh well yes I can control my feelings. I just usually will bottle them up or suppress enough that it gets to this point.

Try lifting weights. The pain of muscle fatigue releases my masochistic tendencies and the pain is not harmful for you unlike hitting yourself.

It does sound autistic. Self violence, especially to one's face means trauma and self hate. Or mental illness.

I don’t have trauma or self-hate to my knowledge? It’s not because I want to hurt myself it’s just a release of emotional anger to something physical. I can release my anger other ways but it’s more difficult. Like crying or stomping can work but I really dislike doing either of those.

I don't think any of that is healthy. Have you tried lifting weights or running? You can beat yourself upmin healthier ways 😂😎😘

I think you should punch a pillow, or scream into a pillow.

Doing something physical is a good way to release anger, but there are more positive ways of doing it than hitting yourself. Why not go for a run?

I have heard that’s a good way to release anger, but a lot of the time I just can’t go for a run because I’m busy
