Is it normal to have sudden brief thoughts about having sex?

I was casually talking with a friend of mine (opposite sex) and suddenly a thought about having sex with him popped in my head. It was out of the blue, i had zero control on that thought and it was very brief (probably four seconds or less). The same thing happened again while i was talking with my college professor one day, and another time while I was talking with someone else. I swear I wasn't even fantasizing about these people yet, it bothered me a lot about why on earth did I just have sex with these men in my head?!! It was so embarrassing and took me by surprise!

    this is absolutely normal. I've read statistics that suggest that men have a sexual thought every four seconds, an some that suggest women have even more. I take this all with a grain of salt, but its normal to have sexual thoughts
