Is it normal to have 3 people, 27, 23 and 21 years old to be living at home?

the 23 year old is unemployed and doesn't want a job, the 21 year old works part-time, good company, no college. and the 27 year old works part-time with a job thats going no where, but has a bachelors degree. all 3 are broke, have no money (savings).

  • Unfortunately, it is normal-- but no, it's not right, either. I am not sure your relationship to these people, but some great tips were given above if they are your children. If they are of no relation and there is really no need for your involvement, then I would suggest staying out of the situation.

  • I'm 21 and I live at home but I have a job, am looking for a better one and am still in college for another quarter. I think if they are doing something like school or seriously saving up to move out it is ok but if they are just loafing around its just mooching.

  • Sounds like your not helping them become independent by complaining about it. Try giving them some encouraging advice. Maybe help them find better jobs and suggest that they become more independent by moving out. If that doesn't work try enacting some strict rules around the house and give them chores that'll drive them out quick fast.

  • Apparently nobody answered the door when opportunity was knocking. Just be sure to let one of your boys answer it next time he decides to visit.
