Is it normal to hate trends

Everyone now days think they have to stay cool and copy what everyone else is doing. Like saying they have a squad or something is lit. Is it just me that hates this stupid shit and think everyone is boring followers or is there anyone else that hates new trends and can think for themselves?

Is It Normal?

  • Not everyone - you must be mixing exclusively with superficial people.

I don't even know what the trends are and I don't care.

  • Cash me outside, how bow dat? lol

Yea. It sucks. Everybody use to hate cliques. But now you either fit in or you dont, it seems. Even the weirdos want to be cool.

  • I find them pretty fascinating and fun. I collect old fashion, slang, decorating, etc books and magazines and I also watch modern/current trends. Sure, some things I dislike, find stupid, ugly, whatever...but observing it all, watching it evolve, tracing back its roots? That shit is so interesting.

  • In my experience words like fam, lit, squad, etc are used by stupid ass white kids trying to act black. And yeah they're annoying

  • ah good thing about jargon and trends these days is that they're constantly being replaced by the next big thing so if something annoys you just wait a little while and it will pass over

  • I dislike most of the new words that have come out except for triggered. I love the way people use it now, it's perfect.

  • Yea I think the word lit is stupid

    Swag is also gay

Some trends I definately do think is dumb

    Church is funny

Crib i will never seriously say

I will also not use whip

Just depends on how each thing sounds, but yea its good to make your own decision on whether or not you like something, and not just follow everyone else because you want to fit in

    • Swag was pretty popular in the 60's. On 'You Bet Your Life', Groucho Marx used to say 'whaddya gonna do with all that swag' when a contestant won.

Another one people think is newer than it is is 'conversate'. The Fonz would say it on Happy Days.

        • Conversate is what's called a back formation (creating a new word from an existing word). It would be interchangeable with 'converse' (verb, meaning to engage in conversation). People are upset over conversate not being a real word, but it IS a real word...now. We use lots of back formations without a second thought, conversate is just an example of a newer one and it's funny how people don't want to accept it.

          • like conversate with each other?

i thought it was a real word haha

if its not in the webster dictionary then thats just retarded when they officially added a word like "do-oh!"

            • It is a real word.

It's a common mistake to think this way but the dictionary is a 'descriptive' tool. Its main purpose is to reflect the usage of language, NOT to direct it.
