Is it normal to hate things i used to like because it becomes 'normal'?

So this feeling has been going on for a while now, it seems that a lot of songs, games or shows I like become popular a few months after I become fond of them.

I feel like I'm being selfish or something.

I have found that I am constantly balancing my desire to fit in against my need to be unique. With that being said, it is much easier to see the flaw in others than it is to see the flaw in me. I have a habit of criticizing thw things that other people do, and praising the things that I do.

So it makes sense to me why this "disgust for normalacy" phenomenon occurs. Facebook was really cool when only a few people were using it. Now Facebook is boring because it is normal.

It's happened to me quite a few times. The good news is, you can always go back to it after the hype dies down and it'll feel like it's "yours" again.

Being a true fan isn't about being there from the very beginning, it's about sticking with what you love even after everybody else has moved on to the next big thing.

Probably. Happens a lot in video game communities; fans like it when their favorite game was their little thing, and when a bunch of norm is (to use 4chan parlance) show up, it somehow "ruins" it.

But I understand. I used to love AC/DC, Ozzy Ozborne, and Guns & Roses. Now I hate them, mostly because I liked them in high school, when I did a whole lot of stupid and cringey things.
