Is it normal to hate squirrels?

I live in a heavily forested area, so I have several squirrels that live near my house. I also have many oak trees all around the house that literally rain acorns everywhere. But apparently the squirrels prefer eating the seed I put out for birds over eating the millions of acorns. They tear up the bird feeder, eat huge amounts of seed, poop everywhere, and I think one of them is trying gnaw through the house to get into the attic to live. I hate these little rodents!

Is that normal? What ways can I get rid of them without injuring or killing them? I could trap and remove them, but new squirrels would just replace them. Thoughts?

When I saw this title my jaw dropped. Squirrels are one of my favourite things. Seeing them ho around is one of the things guaranteed to make me smile. It's understandable the way you feel though, if the little furry bastards are causing you trouble.

You put out food for wild animals to eat then get mad when wild animals eat it?

    • Yeah, sounds funny. But birds are fun to watch, tweet like singing and don't damage anything around my place. Squirrels are destructive and chow so much seed I might have to stop giving the birds food.

The squirrels do stuff like that at my house too. I am so sick of them eating my birdseed. They make capsaicin stuff that you can put on birdseed to repel the squirrels. Birds don't hsve capsaicin receptors.

I use a live trap to catch them around my house then spray them with the hose then release them to the park hoping they don't come back. Fuck tree rats they think that fluffy tail makes them so much better , smug bastards
