I took an Intro to Religion class in college. We learned a lot about why people believe in religion. A lot of the time people turn to religion for a sense of safety or purpose. Early human history suggests the earliest people turned to Animism (basically attributing spiritual forces to nature). A lot of religion is not proven, but it also comforts some people. I think it’s normal but you shouldn’t ‘hate’ people because they believe in something you don’t. For many, it’s comforting to find purpose in life through a higher force. In addition, religion can be used very toxically and the world is continuing to experience that to this day.
