Is it normal to get tired of your own age group

I’m tired of people self diagnosing themselves as depressed or OCD or whatever they think they are in order to seem special or different. It makes it harder for people who actually have problems to come out and say they have issues if everyone acts like it’s the norm when it’s really not and I’m just so tired of it

People self diagnose mental illness all the time. It's really weird that people do this because you definitely wouldn't do it with a serious physical illness (imagine - I have read an article on the internet and I've realised that I have cancer. I'm not going to bother going to the doctor to check but I'm going to tell everyone I have cancer every day and join a cancer support group) sometimes it's even dangerous - mental health isn't a game, if people genuinely have an issue they should go to the doctor.

Just give them a wide berth and let them sort their shit out in their own time. Nothing else you can really do.

its annoyin that people use mental illnesses as some kinda accessory to make theyselves more interestin

even more annoyin that they just lay back & accept it insteada tryna overcome it or improve theyselves

Web MD shouldn’t be trusted with these things.

Really agree with you, I don't get why people worry so much about seeing a doctor these days and getting properly diagnosed instead of believing stuffs which may be totally irrelevant to their conditions on the internet these days....

Mentally ill people are some of the most toxic people you will ever meet.

The heading has nothing to do with the content of your query: self diagnosis isn't confined to any one generation. Old people do it too, including me, except I'm usually right after I've googled symptoms, ignoring the rubbish health sites.

Thank you for pointing this out!! This thread has become about people diagnosing themselves and what people think rather than about people getting tired of their own age. I feel like maybe they should’ve asked if it’s normal to be annoyed by people who diagnose themselves.

I hate when someone says they're so OCD,because I have OCD for real. It's not a joke.

I agree. The stereotypes surrounding the condition are very incorrect

If you actually have those problems you don't really want to come out and say it anyway. what's the point? Absolutely no one will care, so you might as well just use it for introspection and self-improvement.
worth of note, I've never seen people fake mental illnesses irl, only online. Although the whole "I'm so ocd" joke i've heard people say irl, and the "i wanna die" suicidal type "humor" popular among early 20-somes. it's a bit cringe but whatever. some people could do with easing back into reality a bit more.

  • My age group are millennials and I definitely never get tired of their entitled spoiled brat attitudes.

I know for a fact I have a milder form of OCD. That's due to getting anxious when something is placed oddly. Other than that I look up symptoms, but never 100% self diagnose myself with anything like cancer or diseases. I can't stand when people experience a symptom and automatically assume it's cancer ugh

I’ve always felt years ahead of my own age group and at times struggle to connect. Everyone is just so biased by all the nonsense that is going on these days.

To be technical I self diagnosed myself as trans after extensive research and evaluating myself. And now that I'm living as a woman im easily 75% happier better in social situations and just a better person all around. Sometimes self diagnosis works but for those that just think without researching but still say well they can fuck right off

So you're accepting your transgender orientation as a mental illness?

I’m not referring to being Transgender or gay or any of the LGBTQ identities ,I’m talking specifically about people trying to say that they have depression or a mental disorder with no facts or without asking a professional and just saying they are based off of what the internet says
