Is it normal to find weddings boring?

I'm the socially awkward type. I dont like being stuck in a huge room with a hundreds of loud people, loud music, terrible tasting food, and nothing to do. I dislike the dress I am required to wear and the fact that I have to buy gifts for the bride and groom. None of that stuff is cheap and I barely make enough to cover those things. In some cases the bride or groom is grumpy and treats people like crap. The whole thing wears me out. IIN?

    You think a new pair of gym socks is exciting? Just wait til you have to sit thru a wedding. Now THERE is excitement...

    Ok so it it time for a joke, as spoken by a young woman -

    "At weddings, the older relatives would nudge me and and quietly say, "You're next!" So to get them to stop it, i would do the same thing to them at funerals".

    To put it simply...fuck yes it is. Sitting in a god damn room with a droning monotone’d voice reading wedding vows for an hour? And I’m not even sorry for it XD

      Why do the vows have to be so long? What's the point? I'm sure the people who are getting married just want to go home married already instead of having to sit through an hour of vows.

        I don't know. In most of the ones I've gone to, the bride and groom wrote their own.

      There are other things I feel like I could be doing than going to one. If I skip out on a wedding, the bride and groom will whine about it for weeks.

    I love weddings.

    I love that people still believe in love.
    True honest-to-"god"-love.the kind that lasts forever.

    I've been there and it didn't work out for me.
    Twice.

    With all this going on in the world it's so amazing the two people choose to believe that.

    The ones I've gone to had terrible food and abnormal cake flavors. Then again it's free so free bad food I'd better than nothing.

      I always found church to be boring when I was little. There was nowhere to play and I had to stay in one spot while some dude talked about unexciting stuff.

        Oh get this - one time when I was real little, I turned on the local televangelist station. There was this cartoon where a car was pulling up to a gas station. "RIGHT ON! Cartoons!" I thought. But it just turned out to be some boring show called "The filling station" where they preached the gospel and asked for donation.

        I am starting to get over it.
