BUT, you must make it seems very casual, like chatting up some girl you see is completely natural. Females can smell fear and if they sense apprehension, your chances of her going out with you pretty much go down the toilet. Women like confidence.
The habit of immediately turning away as soon as a girl sees you looking at her is something you should really try to break. There's nothing wrong with just glancing over at someone. Breaking it off immediately is like putting a big sign up that says "it was wrong of me to look at you, I'm a wimpy guy, don't go out with me".
