Is it normal to feel uncomfortable about girlfriend getting stoned?

Hey there.

Much like the title says, im unsure as to how I feel about it. I personally haven't ever smoked and am fine with it under any other occasion. I'm not sure why I feel the way I do this time though. This was her first time ever smoking and I just felt very uncomfortable with the whole ordeal. It doesn't feel right for some reason even though I would never deny or condemn the ability to smoke if someone wanted to. I'm very conflicted.

    Maybe because it was her first time you felt like it could turn into a slippery slope into addiction?

    I don't have much of an issue of people smoking weed but i do get inconfortable when a friend of mine who's not in a good place does it.

      I do feel that. Im not so much worried about her getting addicted, moreso I guess it felt sort of weird to be interacting with her when she didn't have all her mental faculties in order? Like it felt like it was her but slightly different and it was uncomfortable to experience because I'm so used to her when she's sober.

        Cannabis doesn't just put your usual mental faculties out of order, it opens up whole new mental faculties!

            girls dont need to smoke weed to be happy :)

            tell her you dont think she should smoke weed. you like her better when she doesnt :)

    She will get dependent on it & then start spending $1000's on pot, overtime. Trust me. This happens to all stoners but they don't understand themselves thats why they smoke it. Lol. Your lungs still get coated with resin tar... If youre breathing in a burning plant, yes your lungs will get coated in tar. People dont realize it, but a smokers lungs looks like the inside of their pipe... It's that simple. Tell her to live normally & stop smoking! Remind her that we have oxygen & water. That's actually normal to breath in. Lol

    Yes it's absolutely reasonable to be uncomfortable with that. She's not a random stranger on the streets. She's your gf. As a gf she has rights to expect you to not do certain things and so do you have such rights.
    While I don't hate strangers messing with their life I'd never be in a relationship with a junkie, alcoholic or someone who can't enjoy free time being perfectly sober. I'd make simple ultimatum - either we break up or she quits smoking. She's not forced to stay with you and the ocean is big if she wants to be in relationship where smoking is considered ok.
    But for the sake of someone else don't degrade your standards.

    I'd be ok with it as long as sex was not involved. I don't like stoned sex or drunk sex.

    Maybe you're worried she'll get stoned with other guys and let them fuck the daylights out of her...Defenses would be down, she'd be relaxed, maybe in a room of 3,4 guys..They'd plow her until she'd sweat the pot out of her body..
