Nobody will care in 10 years. Not even that actually. If you make a complete fool of yourself, people will get over it, even if it takes a while (although you'd have to do something pretty stupid). If you get rejected, no one will care in 10 years. However, if you don't get rejected, in 10 years, you might still know that person.:)
Don't beat yourself up for being the way you are either, it won't help. Just take your time with it.
