Is it normal to feel that i am not as important to friends as they are to me?

When I am alone I don't have much to do. I don't have a lot of friends and don't receive texts / calls very often. When I am with friends I see everyone checking their phones and text messaging constantly.

I feel that everyone I hang out with has more happening in their life and has a lot of different friends / things going on, but they are some of my only friends, and hanging out with them is one of the most important things to me.

I think everyone is insecure about things like this but different people respond differently. The people texting all the time, like what thisissomuchfun said, could just be compensating for the same insecurity as you! I am in your shoes also unfortunately.

  • It could be possible that they are more insecure about their relationships than you are and they need to work harder to maintain those relationships via texting. Just a possibility.

Or maybe you have better manners than they do. I would berate my friends if they were constantly texting in my presence.
