Is it normal to feel like your life is a movie? like someone is watching you?

THIS is weird. I think it's a coping mechanism or something because my life hasn't been easy.

Every day I feel like someone is watching me. Like my eyes are a video camera and they're off somewhere watching life through my eyes. I usually think it's the person I like.

I don't ACTUALLY think that, of course, but it's a weird thought. It's helped me make good decisions and live life as the best version of myself. But I've literally been doing this since I was a little kid.

Weird, right?

I sometimes think I'm in or on some tv show about me and my life. I also think that everyone is laughing at me and my problems.. So, yes.

What does any of the above have to do with anything?

Poster, what you're experiencing is called an imaginary audience. Everyone has it at some point in their life - the feeling that others are paying acute attention to what you're doing, even when there's no one around. :D If it makes you do good, though, more power to you.

Lol i used to do that too but I guess It kinda went away after I started taking anti depressants about a year ago. It's normal though. I would also have this feeling that after I got home from school I thought It was a dream and I was really still in class thinking I was at home... If that makes sense???

I don't do this so much anymore but I know exactly what you mean. I was like this 24-7 for years. Actually, 'The Truman Show' kind of had it spot-on for me. The biggest difference I would say is that it never made me make better decisions. I just felt that, in whatever I did, be it boring, wrong, gross, intimate, the person watching me absolutely LOVED watching my life. I'd always think they LIVED to watch me and cared about me and knew me better than anyone else ever could.

  • I use this site to write my ideas so I can SEE them. It makes it easier to accept what I have already chosen. But over time, a few people started badmouthing me and that inner 'white trash' gene kicks in and I go apeshit over it.

Looking back though, I guess I love typing and I really would like to see other read what I write, either it being good or bad. I do feel like people are watching my post and make it their personal hobby to slam me for this stupid comment or that but as a whole, not so much like how you wrote.

All in all, I started using this site to vent crap in responce to crap and laugh with my fiance with the negative comments I get in my email. I keep saying I won't come back or that I'm not and I mean it when I say it, but I haven't really tried to end my time here yet.

However, I think we all think our lives are like the "Truman Show" at points in our lives. The sad point is when you realise that your life's rating would be 'G' instead of an NC-17.

Way to be on topic. Bud, if you seriously want to move on from this, stop talking about it. We will stop talking about it if you will.
