Is it normal to feel like everything you do is abnormal compared to others?

Everytime I do something I feel like from someone else's point of view they are confused by what I am trying to do or why I am doing something that certain way. Like when a teacher is teaching everyone steps to do something everyone proceeds in doing it that way, but I just don't. Sometimes I do but not always.

Is It Normal?

  • It's the end result that counts. Try not to feel too self-conscious about it. The world needs ppl who question the way things are done. There would be no innovation otherwise.

  • I think most people feel this way but grow to realize it's normal.

  • I used to be that way too but it was too exhausting to keep up so think of it this way:

Even if the people around you are all doing the same thing the same way it doesn't mean they're correct. If someone is confused about something you're doing then explain it to them; you might be able to help them or be helped in return. Considering all of the people on this planet at least one will be able to understand you without explanation, they're just in a different class wondering the same thing you are.

  • I often wonder and am curious about my abilities and how others view my capabilities but after I think about it, it realty shouldn't matter. As long as I'm trying my hardest It's all gravy.

  • Not everyone fits in "typical range" normalcy. You may be on the outskirts.

    • Well, technically that would mean that you wouldn't be normal. I mean, "normal" just means close to the average case after all. Being on the outskirts means you are far away from the average case.

  • I rarely do what I am told. Unless it was something I was going to do anyways. I really don't mind confusing people. You get use to it and you learn to develop good communication skills, and eventually you will find people who get you.

This can be tricky with teachers because they often have a specific agenda and some don't work well outside the box. But as long as you understand the assignment and get good grades they really can't complain.
