Is it normal to feel being "masculine" is just no fun.

Personally, as a man, I detest a lot of "masculine" values, such as:

*deliberately being narrow minded
*treating all other males as enemies until proven friends
*constantly abusing alcohol and women
*not having fun or smiling
*Submitting yourself to petty bodily harm and minor inconveniences to prove to your friends you can take it
*bashing up homosexuals in the park with aluminum poles to look tough in front of their friends

I find a lot of masculine values dumb, irrational and hyper-adolescent.

Do any men here share in this opinion?

    • That's what I've observed masculine values to be.

  • Wut?

I think you're confusing stereotypes of masculinity with what the true spirit of masculinity is.

  • As a woman, to be honest, I have always wondered if being a masculine man is actually enjoyable. Sure, you get more respect from many people, as a man. However, I feel bad for masculine men, because it is against social practice to express fear or sadness. And that would probably get pretty difficult and depressing to do after awhile.

  • You have to learn to ignore Dbags like IMSUPERNORMAL up there. What you are saying is not gay, it is putting logic over....well, lots of stupid crap. But the others are right, that isn't masculinity that you are talking about, what you are describing is pure Dbag. I can't blame you though because it is easy to get those two mixed up, and that is due to the overabundance of Dbags saying you are gay for not doing the "manly" things they do.

  • At what point did these become the rules of being masculine? These are not masculine values, my dear. These are the values of being a douche bag.

  • LOL I am proud to be male and I can attest not only have I never done any of those things on your list (except the booze briefly) I would never want to.

Nor have any of my male relatives done any of that including my dad, my brother, my nephews, my uncles, my cousins or my grandfathers.

    • Can you explain the logic in that? (I don't have high hopes in a civil response) Are men who don't unquestioningly abide to the above automatically fags?
