Is it normal to do computing just to gain my parents approval?

What I mean by approval is that my parents do not see a future in me doing what I want to do they always want me to be a doctor or an engineer or they'll beat me. So me, I applied to go study computing because its something I'm quite passionate about and I only did this to gain their approval.

If you like it, and it also gains their approval, then go do it! That's a win-win. Many people don't get the chance to make their passions into a career.

Its normal and sometimes young people need a little push. That rhetoric about "just do what makes you happy even if you dont make money" is a load of nonsense. Doctors make a lot of money and have higj status and hot girls want to date you. If you get to be a doctor your life will be good. Software engineers also make good money.

Parents like that are common, however this dosen't mean that they are doing the right thing. Your parents are problably just worried about you and your financial conditions, but is important to do what you acctually like and want for your life, because even thought money is important to pay bills, food, and stuff, is nore worth doing something you like, even if this job might give you less money, or maybe it can give even more who knowns? You will also fell less stress and enjoy more your life if you do what you like. Remmenber the life is yours not of your parents, they put you in this your but you didn't ask for it
