Is it normal to critique people of their singing?

I critique people of their singing and give them my opinion about it, it's only rare I would say yes it's good but most of the time I say no and give them reasons why I said no.

As long as they're asking for the critique, it's fine. At that point they have no right to get pissy at you for helping them. XD

If you're expected to critique them in the situation you're in (like, if it's a singing contest or you're a music teacher giving them a lesson), then it's normal. If they didn't ask or you're not in a situation where you're there to critique singing, then no, it's not normal and you shouldn't do it.

The reason for this is that singing is is something people get very possessive of and nervous about. It's like when someone wears an outfit and says 'I feel great in this outfit! It's also the only one I have that doesn't make my bum look big. What do you think?'. You probably already know that you shouldn't say, 'Actually, that one makes your bum look big, too', even if that's true. Singing is similar to bodies and clothes in this respect.

Most people have enough negative judgments about their singing AND their appearance coming from inside their own minds, and anything you say might just crush their feelings if it's critical and they weren't expecting or wanting criticism.

Not op but fuck yeah, a lot of people sing and are absolutely deserving of scorn. Myself included.

It's certainly not strange to do this, just wonder why it matters so much to you. My sister-in-law often starts singing if someone references a line from a song and it irritates me to no end that they keep singing until the end of the song, blocking everything out until theyre done (pray to god that the line refenced wasnt the first line of a Disney song).
Those situations in my opinion warrant criticism. In most other situations, I don't think I would mind personally, cuz I can just ignore it.
