Is it normal to call chicken, cock?

This happens to me all the time. I'll go to a restaurant and I see they have cock on the menu so I tell the waiter or waitress that I would like cock with fries and a dr. pepper. Then they always give me weird look and they say that not on the menu and I'll say yes it is, and point to it. Then they, for the most part, say " oh, that cock". My homeland is Romania and what Americans call "chicken" we call cock.

Is It Normal?

  • The French say coq too, and the Scottish (cock a leekie soup). I think the Chinese do too, but don't quote me on that.

  • Totally normal.

By the way, they tend to have really fantastic chicken wings at gay strip clubs.

  • I'm also from Romania.Chicken is either hen (găină),either rooster (cocoș).Cock is only refering to rooster, but the word is more used refering to the reproductive organ. That's why they look like that at you.

  • Normal in Romania but you might want to say 'chicken' in the US

Cock is slang for penis in the US. But seriously if you're from Romania it's not a big deal, we know what language barriers are

But the best language confusion comes from good old Italy. Ask for the penne not the pene.

  • In French Clams are coque, which sounds as cock if you put an accent to it. Same for coque and rooster. It only sounds like cock if you put an English accent to it. I'm French

I remember this story about a Frenchman going to an English fish market, and there was a man sitting with a basket full of clams between his legs... "Nice cock you got there" lol

  • Coq is a rooster. You'd have to say: Un poulet avec des frites et un Dr. Pepper.

  • No Chinese just say chicken. Although if you ask a Chinese to say it they would have the accent.
